Travel during quarantine

It is strange that we, generally, do not appreciate beauty near us and try hard to find it in far away places.

Living in Stockholm, which is a beautiful city, I always craved to visit other countries in Europe. Even a long weekend meant visiting some other country, never thought of exploring Stockholm and the places around Stockholm.

Due to quarantine, when travelling abroad is not a good idea,I thought "why not explore the beautiful places nearby, which I generally do not appreciate much"

That thought made me look for places near me which are beautiful and I came across a name that I had heard so many times, but never ever thought of visiting.... So, just went to spend the day strolling through Nynäshamn and it was, indeed, such a beautiful cozy place..

Nynäshamn is a locality in southern Stockholm County, Sweden. It is a port where one can get ferries to Gotland (Famous Swedish summer holiday Island). One can reach Nynäshamn either by taking a commuter train(pendeltåg as it is called in Sweden) from Stockholm Central station(T-Centralan/Stockholm City) or can drive all the way. Even if one doesn't want to travel to Gotland, yet a lazy day at Nynäshamn sitting by the water, or having a meal or drink or both in the restaurants/bars by the water is really refreshing.

Unlike the mainstream attractions in Stockholm, this is more of a calm and cozy place where you won't find tourists but mainly locals enjoying summer.

I will recommend summer to go there else it may be a little too cold to be near the water :)

The day spent in Nynäshamn made me think that may be, we can all make use of this travel restriction period to explore offbeat/non-tourist places nearby... Who knows what gem we can end up discovering, isn’t it?
