Bourton-on-the-Water is a charming English village in the heart of the Cotswold's AONB( Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).

The Cotswolds is a rural area of south central England covering parts of 6 counties, notably Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. Its rolling hills and grassland harbour thatched medieval villages, churches and stately homes built of distinctive local yellow limestone.

Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in 1966, the Cotswolds covers 787 square miles (2,040 km2) is the third largest protected landscape in England and the largest AONB.

Cotswolds consists of many pretty English villages - Bourton-on-the-Water is considered to be the most beautiful village in Cotswolds and has a unique appeal to visitors and residents alike.

With plenty to see and do, Bourton-on-the-Water offers a wealth of attractions and shops, restaurants and tea rooms, or simply for you to enjoy some tranquil time by the River Windrush with its beautiful bridges 🌁throughout.

How to reach Bourton-on-the-Water

Bourton-on-the-Water is easily accessible by Public transport from London.

GWR Trains from Paddington station can take you to Moreton-in-Marsh. Then take a bus to reach this village.

We were on a road trip, and I would highly recommend a road trip across the Cotswolds.

However, one can also cover by Public transport.

a. The Model Village - Start with the Model Village. This is a replica of the actual village built of Cotswold stone to one-ninth scale opened in 1937.

he river Windrush flows under Bourton's famous bridges providing a beautiful backdrop to the miniature beeches, cherries and chestnut trees.

b. The Dragonfly Maze - Traditional hedge maze with a puzzle- Surprisingly challenging and fun, enjoyable for all ages

s

c. Jurassic Journey - Taking visitors back to when dinosaurs roamed the Cotswolds, more than 65 million years ago, this place provides a fascinating expedition discovering life-size dinosaurs.

🖲Explorers are provided special dinosaur tracker kits, and will venture into a Jurassic-themed landscape which is home to more than 30 different dinosaurs ranging from a metre-long baby stegosaurus to a 5 metres tall brachiosaurus. a super fun experience, isn't it ?

Also there is a bird park where you can feed the penguins, isn't that amazing!!!

d. The Parish Church of Saint Mary Lower Slaughter - The Parish Church of Saint Mary Lower Slaughter, was almost completely rebuilt in 1867 in the Early English and Decorated styles and very beautiful.

e. I would highly recommend enjoying a cup of tea in one of the tea rooms, some are so cute!

Although it can be perfect for a day trip, I would recommend spending a night there to enjoy this pretty village.
